Doug Gottlieb Told You So

For the first time on almost two decades, all four #1 seeds advanced in the NCAA Men's Basketball Tournament and Doug Gotlieb saw it coming. Despite the NCAA claiming that N.I.L. would create competitive balance now that every school can pay its players, Doug Gottlieb has been saying, literally for years, that the opposite is true; it would actually destroy competitive balance and allow the bigger schools with more resources to gobble up all the talent. When you have a 'pay-to-play' system in the NCAA with no guardrails, the blue-blood schools are going to take advantage, and Cinderella can kick rocks. After this year's bracket, it's time for a mea culpa from everyone who laughed at the idea that N.I.L. would kill competitive balance.

Doug Gottlieb: "If you laughed at the NCAA saying that opening up pay-for-play, which is what N.I.L. truly is; if you open it up...that it would kill competitive balance, it is on you over the next week to post on social media, 'I was wrong.'"
