New York Jets cornerback Kris Boyd was re-hospitalized for treatment of a gunshot wound, ABC News reports.

Boyd, 29, was previously released from Bellevue Hospital in Manhattan earlier this month, but announced that he'd returned on Wednesday (November 26) due to "health issues" in a post shared on his Instagram Story.

"Please bare [sic] with me, I haven't been in communication much," Boyd wrote via ABC News. "I was released but had to return to the hospital due to my health issues."

The cornerback thanked his followers for the support, however, the nature of his hospitalization was unclear. Boyd was with Jets linebacker Jamien Sherwood and wide receiver Irvin Charles at Sei Less Asian Fusion nightclub on November 16 when a group made comments about their fancy clothes, which reportedly made the cornerback feel uneasy about their vibe, sources told the New York Post. The three NFL players were exiting the club at around 2:00 a.m. when a scuffle broke out in the street and shots were fired, with one striking Boyd in the abdomen.

A video shared by the @Crime_In_NYC X account showed the scuffle and gunshots are heard in the background. Boyd was rushed to Bellevue Hospital and listed initially reported to be in critical but stable condition, however, is scheduled to be released.

The cornerback was reported to have had a bullet lodged in his lungs at the time of his hospitalization, according to sources. No one in Boyd's group was armed at the time of the shooting, sources confirmed to the New York Post.

The New York Police Department released two images of a person of interest who was "described as male, medium complexion." The suspect, who has not been arrested, was last seen wearing a black cap, black sweatshirt, black pants, multi-colored sneakers, and carrying a black bookbag" and reported to have "fled the location on foot traveling eastbound on West 38 Street to parts unknown."
