Injured Georgia Bulldogs quarterback Carson Beck reportedly plans to enter the NCAA transfer portal, sources with knowledge of the situation confirmed to ESPN on Thursday (January 9).

Beck, 23, had previously declared for the 2025 NFL Draft on December 28, but appears to have instead opted to continue his collegiate career elsewhere. The redshirt senior is reportedly favoring the University of Miami, where his girlfriend, Hanna Cavinder, plays for the women's basketball team, though his team reportedly intends to listen to all potential suitors.

"It's a strategic thing, not an emotional thing," the source told ESPN.

Beck was a two-year starter at Georgia, taking over after the departure of quarterback Stetson Bennett IV, who led the Bulldogs to back-to-back College Football Playoff national championships. The former five-star prospect is currently recovering from surgery to repair the ulnar collateral ligament in his throwing elbow, which stemmed from an injury he suffered during Georgia's SEC Championship Game win against Texas.

Beck is currently projected to be cleared to throw in March, which reportedly complicated his plans for the 2025 NFL Draft as he'd be unable to do so during the NFL Combine next month. The quarterback was reportedly told that he was projected anywhere between the first and third round with much uncertainty over his inability to throw during pre-draft workouts.

Beck led the Bulldogs to a 24-3 record in two seasons as a starter, which included throwing for 3,485 yards, 28 touchdowns and 12 interceptions on 290 of 448 passing in 2024.
