Rob Parker: “I’m bothered by Scott Rolen being elected to the Baseball Hall of Fame. This is where we are, and today pushed me over the edge because I really believe this is such a stretch. Scott Rolen is not a Hall of Famer. When you talk about the great players in the history of the game, there’s no way you’re saying, “Scott Rolen and Reggie Jackson,” Scott Rolen and Willie Mays,” Scott Rolen and Babe Ruth, or Hank Aaron, or Tom Seaver”.... We have really made a stretch, and the standards have been dropped in the baseball Hall of Fame. It’s a hallowed place, I love it and it gives me goosebumps every time I go. My most prized possession on this Earth is my Baseball Hall of Fame vote. I take the job very seriously because the Hall means something to me... When he first got on the ballot 6 years ago, he had 10% of the vote. If you get less than 5%, you’re taken off. How does he go from almost being taken off, to 5 years later, being inducted with 76%?”
Chris Broussard: “Rob you make a great point, because once you elect a guy like Scott Rolen in, then what? It’s not fair to a lot of other players who were probably better than him, that will never have the opportunity. He was a good player, but he’s not a Hall of Famer.”

The Odd Couple’s Chris Broussard and Rob Parker react to the BBWA electing Scott Rolen into the Hall of Fame. Both Rob and Chris are puzzled by this selection by the committee, and feel that it’s a stretch of a choice. Listen to the full segment above!
