Why You Can't Take Aaron Rodgers' Recent Jordan Love Comments Seriously

Aaron Rodgers to Kenny Mayne on ESPN: "With my situation, look it's never been about the draft pick, picking Jordan. I love Jordan; he's a great kid. [We've had] a lot of fun to work together. Love the coaching staff, love my teammates, love the fan base in Green Bay. An incredible 16 years. It's just kind of about a philosophy and maybe forgetting that it is about the people that make the thing go. It's about character, it's about culture, it's about doing things the right way... "A lot of this was put in motion last year, and the wrench was just kind of thrown into it when I won MVP and played the way I played last year," Rodgers said. "This is just kind of, I think, a spill-out of all that. But it is about the people, and that's the most important thing. Green Bay has always been about the people -- from Curly Lambeau being owner and founder to the '60s with [Vince] Lombardi and Bart Starr and all those incredible names to the '90s teams with coach [Mike] Holmgren and Favrey [Brett Favre] and the Minister of Defense [Reggie White] to the run that we've been on. It's about the people."

Brady Quinn: “When you listen to what he said about ‘it’s about character’, ‘it’s about culture’, ‘it’s about the people’, that’s true, but I listen to him say 'and then I threw a wrench into it.’ Wrench into what? Their plan was obviously drafting Jordan Love and eventually segwaying to Jordan Love, but now he’s saying he ‘threw a wrench into it.’ So he can’t say it’s not about that draft pick, because in essence, it WAS. No matter what he wants to say, if they didn’t trade up to take Jordan Love he probably doesn’t have an issue with the team. He might be frustrated that they haven’t provided him more help at wide receiver or they haven’t been able to get past the NFC Championship Game, but the truth of the matter is that we aren’t having this conversation if they didn’t draft Jordan Love. Two things can be true: you can love Jordan Love and who he is as a person, but you can also recognize that that singular move by the organization was a mistake and is what created this separation and this fracture in their relationship. You can’t say it’s not about drafting Jordan Love because ultimately it is and that’s why we’re at this point.” (Full Segment Above)

Listen to Brady Quinn, former NFL quarterback and Fox Sports Radio host [guest-hosting for Clay Travis alongside Jonas Knox], explain why he’s not buying Aaron Rodgers’ recent comments to Kenny Mayne that said his beef with the Packers had nothing to do with the organization drafting Jordan Love in the first round of the 2020 NFL Draft.

Check out the segment above as Quinn details why nearly all roads of transgression lead to that singular move no matter what Rodgers tries to say to lessen the burden on Love himself.
