MVA Closes All Branches Indefinitely

The Motor Vehicle Administration announced Friday afternoon the closing of all branches across the state of Maryland indefinitely, effective as of 4:30 p.m. Additional services based out of these branches including E-ZPass and TSA PreCheck will also be unavailable. However, MVA's self-service kiosks and online store will remain available while branches are closed.

“We appreciate our customers’ patience and understanding as we take appropriate steps to limit the impact of this unprecedented health crisis,” MVA Administrator Chrissy Nizer said in a statement. “Safety is always our top priority at MDOT MVA. Right now, the key to promoting safety is encouraging our customers and employees to stay home.”

Governor Larry Hogan announced in an earlier press conference that "all licenses, identification cards, permits and registrations due to expire while Maryland is under a state of emergency will remain valid until 30 days after the state of emergency is lifted." Those drivers with urgent needs, such as obtaining a CDL or registering fleet vehicles, may contact the MVA at COVID19MVAAction@mdot.maryland.gov or call 1-800-950-1682.
